Cornerstone Counseling
Cornerstone Counseling is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation created in 2011 with the mission to help all find hope, healing, and restoration through the power of the Holy Spirit and the use of Temperament Counseling techniques. Since its establishment, Cornerstone has helped many men, women, children, families, and couples in the Albany and Tifton areas.
Our mission is to create a warm welcoming environment where all can find help in overcoming mental health challenges through Christ. Our vision is that all would be able to receive the services we provide regardless of their financial situation. If you would like to partner with us, and our ministry, you can do so below.

About Whitney Newman

In life, we all experience peaks and valleys. It is not a matter of if but when we are faced with a trial, where do we turn? I believe true healing comes where psychology meets spirituality. God has always had a calling on my life to help others.
I have spent the past 15 years on the board of Mission:Change, working with the homeless and underserved in our community. I am also a volunteer with the Alpha Pregnancy Center and have been for several years.
I have been married to my husband for 24 years and we share two children, Chandler (23) and Crawford (17). After being a stay-at-home mom and volunteer for 23 years, God called me into the counseling world. I hold an Associate’s Degree from Liberty University in Psychology-Christian Counseling, I am a Clinical Member of the National Christian Counselor’s Association, a Certified Temperament Counselor, and am currently reenrolled at Liberty University pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Science for Psychology- Christian Counseling.
My desire as a Christian Counselor is to walk beside those in need, to listen, and to offer tools that will help when the next valley comes. With all of my heart, I believe when Jesus declared in Matthew 28:11 saying, “All who are weary and carry heavy burdens, come to Me and I will give you rest”. Finding joy in a deepened relationship with Jesus does not mean that all of our problems go away, it simplymeans that we never walk through them alone.

About Baylee Young

Hello, my name is Baylee Young. I have been a certified Temperament Counselor since 2024. Prior to Christian counseling, I served the community of Albany for 5 years in a clinical mental health setting. I am from the Albany area and am proud that am a graduate of Albany State with my bachelors in Psychology and I received my certification through the National Christian Counseling Association (NCCA). I have always been passionate about helping individuals find meaning, purpose, and healing through the betterment of their mental and spiritual health. I believe faith plays a major role in the healing journey as we are limited in our ability to better ourselves on our own, however, through the Lord, we can experience the miraculous healing that only He can provide (Psalms 147:3).

In addition to my previous work experience, I have served at my local church for over 8 years in various capacities including the youth program, mission trips with various cultural groups, small groups, media, and more. I also have the pleasure of serving with another nonprofit to share the stories of others in need and coach at a local gym in my free time to assist people mentally, spiritually, and physically. Outside of volunteer work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, taking walks with our dogs around town, art, and crocheting.
